Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that Zumba Wii is one of the best selling and most popular of the Wii games. But why is that? Because it combines the exuberant and effective Zumba Fitness dance exercise with Wii gaming technology.
Developer Pipeworks Software knew what it was doing when it released Zumba Wii through publisher Majesco in the fall of 2010. The catch phrase “ditch the workout” takes on a newer meaning than it did with Zumba alone by incorporating moves designed to make you forget you are exercising.
Unique to Zumba Wii are the more than 30 routines in a variety of dance styles: Calypso, Reggaeton, Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Mambo, Hip-Hop, Rumba, and Flamenco. You’ll want to practice as well as perfect all of them in the comfort of your own home. These international dance steps paired with exuberant Latin music create a fun fitness party environment for yourself or any number you can fit into your workout area.
With your Zumba Wii dvd set you’ll get Zumba instructors Tanya, Gina and Zumba’s creator Beto guiding you through the first interactive game based on the success of this Latin fitness craze. On-screen routines help you fine tune your steps to match the instructors. You and up to three additional players see who can score the highest workout score as a group or play against each other in Zumba Attack!
With the Zumba belt strapped to your waist you can turn the Wii Remote into a hip motion sensor.
After dancing in a Zumba gym you can take your talents further by joining a fantasy night club party, an industrial factory, a skyscraper rooftop and a futuristic Zumbathon stadium.
All levels are considered, from “Learn the Steps” training to Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced routines for all your skill levels as you reach them.
But why did Wii technology choose the Zumba movement? Well, for starters Zumba dance-exercises are effective. A bit challenging at first but considered “addictively fun”. Your heart will be pumping as you not only have fun but also get into shape without the standard gut-wrenching “workout” video.
The popularity of Zumba has led to packed gyms and community centers across the world and now with Zumba Wii you can find out what all the excitement is about.
You’ll learn that the core-centric nature of the dance moves means that gameplay for each player requires only one controller which is enclosed in the exclusive Wii Remote belt mentioned earlier. On-screen color changes to a representation of the player to help you follow the correct moves while a countdown clock keeps you constantly updated on the time remaining for your workout routine.
